Everything You Need to Know Before A Keratin Lash Lift
Looking for flattering lashes that give a little spark to your look without all the maintenance of false lashes or eyelash extensions? You might be due for a Keratin Lash Lift appointment! If you’re not already familiar, we’re here to walk you through everything you need to know about the process and what to expect when coming in for your appointment.
Things to note before making your appointment
Let’s start with the basics! Let’s dive into what you might need to know before even stepping foot into your appointment.
Who can get a keratin lash lift?
Since the process of getting a keratin lash lift is free of harsh chemicals and consists of adding only what naturally exists within your lashes, this treatment is safe and available to anyone.
Anyone can get a lash lift, if their lashes are long enough. People who see the best results for this type of lash lift are people with long, straight or downward pointing lashes.
How long can I expect my lash lift to last?
The longevity of the treatment is strictly based on the natural growth cycles of your eyelashes. Since each lash has an individual growth cycle, the life expectancy of your lashes can fluctuate. Generally, we estimate your lash treatment to hold for up to 6 weeks before another treatment may be needed. Of course, you can opt for another lash lift in as little as 4 weeks to enhance your eyelashes undergoing new growth.
Can I wear makeup to my appointment?
If possible, it can thoroughly help your esthetician and the lifting process when you avoid applying any type of eye makeup to your lid or lashes prior to the appointment. If any makeup is present, the esthetician will ensure the area has been generously cleansed before they start the lifting process.
Remember: having makeup present can modify how effective your lash lift is. For best results, try to refrain from applying any mascara to the lashes for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.
Preparing for your keratin lash lift
Let’s dive right into the lash lifting experience – here’s our FYI on what to do before you come in for your lash treatment.
Avoid curling your lashes for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment
If you’re interested in that bright, youthful look that you get from a successful lash lift, you may be a habitual eyelash curler, and that’s ok! There’s nothing wrong with using a curler on your lashes for your day-to-day looks. We do ask that in preparation for your appointment, you refrain from curling your lashes for at least 24 hours before your lift. In order to provide the best results, we need to have the most natural version of your lash possible.
If you have an eye infection or eye concerns, cancel your appointment
While you may be excited for your lash lift appointment, we ask that you postpone your session and reschedule if you have a concern about the state of your eye. Unfortunately, eyes that have active infections or are in the stages of healing should not be worked on. Even though the lash lifting process is safe, any additional strain or irritation to the eye when it is trying to heal can cause further issues!
Common questions about getting a keratin lash lift
Outside of the do’s and don'ts, here are our most commonly asked questions to get you excited and confident about the process.
What’s the difference between a keratin lash lift and a regular lash lift?
A keratin lash lift is able to provide the same results as a regular lash lift, but adds a little value to your lashes in the process. You see, a regular lash lift uses chemicals to perm the eyelash in place, breaking down any bonds and then solidifying them in the appropriate shape. A keratin lash lifting treatment, however, adds more keratin to the eye as well as other valuable vitamins in order to achieve the desired look, and strengthen the health of your lashes!
What should you know about lash lift aftercare?
Following your lash lift appointment, your life will continue as normal. The only aftercare suggestions are to avoid any moisture on your eyelashes and avoid applying makeup for the first 24 hours following your perm. Once those 24 hours have passed, it’s business as usual!
